Center Stage Sexual Aid: Wavy by Toyfriend

Each week, The CSPH takes a look at a sexual aid that can be just so helpful for some people that it needs to be highlighted. This week’s sexual aid is the Wavy by Toyfriend!

How does the product work?

Part of the “Rocket” family of Toyfriend vibrators, the Wavy packs substantial vibration power into its medium-size frame, which is designed for both external stimulation and vaginal penetration.  All Toyfriend products are made from the same body-safe silicone, and the Wavy quickly adjusts to body temperature and is uniformly firm.

Featuring one large button at the base, controlling the Wavy couldn’t be simpler: one click on the button turns the Wavy on to its highest vibration setting, a second click switches to a lower vibration, and subsequent clicks cycle through its three pulsation modes (long/slow, medium, and short/fast).  To turn the Wavy off, simply hold down that same button.

The Wavy can be used both on the clitoris and inside the vagina. However, it is not a good vibrator for anal penetration, though it can certainly be used for external anal stimulation, and anywhere else on your own/partner’s body—think creatively!  Since the vibrations in the Wavy are concentrated in the tip, a user looking for strong g-spot stimulation might prefer a more g-spot specific toy; however, since the Wavy has an undulating shape, penetration with the Wavy can provide a sensation of variable size similar to anal beads.  When used externally, the fact that the vibrations are concentrated in the tip can help the user control their experience of the Wavy’s strength.

Important Things to Note:

It’s quiet, and something as simple as a small fan cancels out the sound of the Wavy so it can’t be heard beyond closed doors even on its highest setting.  Additionally, it’s waterproof: the batteries screw into the bottom like in a standard flashlight and are sealed up tight so one need not worry while playing in the shower or bath!

Lube should be used, though, as with all silicone toys, water-based lube is your best bet as lubes with silicone can eat away at your toy’s skin. Batteries (AAA) are included with the toy, so just unscrew the bottom and remove the paper barrier to get started! Since the Wavy does not have a flanged base, it is unsafe for anal penetration.

Keeping it Clean:

Wash the Wavy before and after use.  Gentle soap and water works, as well as a 10% bleach solution!

The unique shape of the Wavy makes it a good addition to a collection of vibrators that are used for different types of play.  For beginners to the vibrator world, a more traditionally-shaped vibe like Toyfriend’s Cheeky is a good alternative.
