Center Stage Sexual Aid: ‘Bloom’

Each week, The CSPH takes a look at a sexual aid that can be just so darn spectacular for some people, that it needs to be highlighted. This week’s sexual aid is Bloom!

How does the product work?
Bloom is an attractive and eco-friendly vibrator from the Leaf Line by Swan Vibes. It is 100% silicone and re-chargeable, and its packaging is natural-looking while the bag it comes in is bio-degradable. The fact that it is latex-free, phthalate-free, non-porous, and hypoallergenic means that you can feel completely safe using this toy without a condom, even internally, although the form is not designed to stimulate the G-spot. Additionally, Bloom is waterproof, as the charging port has a self-sealing membrane, making it so the Bloom can be submerged in water for playtime in the bath or shower.

Bloom’s appearance is eye-catching: its bright green coloring is inappropriate for those looking for a more conservative toy, but I found that it invokes feelings of youth, fun, and cleanliness during playtime and has a certain “cuteness” that makes it accessible to first-time users. It’s almost seven inches long so it’s not ideal for travel, but it is quite flexible so it can be made to fit in many discreet places if necessary. Additionally, the flexibility enables the toy to provide double stimulation. With a motor at each end and two small padded buttons that allow for different intensities at each end, the controls are easy to use and self-explanatory, even without the extensive user’s manual. The only complaint I have about the buttons is that it takes a little while to know how to hold the buttons for a precise enough amount of time so the speed increases but does not shut off in the middle of stimulation.

Though this toy is very quiet, the highest setting is quite strong and pleasurable for the seasoned vibrator user, though it may be too intense for first-time users. The body also tends to become desensitized after some time on the highest setting because the vibrations are more of a “buzz” and less of a “thud.” Bloom features a long battery life, lasting up to 90 minutes on one of the lower settings.

Bloom is smooth and velvety to the touch but can pull on skin during use, which can be uncomfortable on areas like the clitoris and nipples. A little lubricant solves this problem, and water-based lubricants are perfect for Bloom. However, it is very important to remember not to use silicone-based lubricant on this product as the lube will destroy it.

Overall, this toy is fantastic for external pleasure and a great way to be creative with stimulation. I would not recommend Bloom for first time users or those who are looking for G-spot stimulation, and even though this toy seems to be marketed to women, it is also great for external stimulation for men.

Important things to note:
Simple soap and water is ideal for cleaning this toy. Leaf products suffer under extreme temperatures so refrain from boiling Bloom. Remember to use only water-based lubricant and store it away from other silicone toys.

  1. Would appreciate it greatly if you explained the difference between buzz and thud, as in ” The body also tends to become desensitized after some time on the highest setting because the vibrations are more of a “buzz” and less of a “thud.” ”

In fact, an entire article on “buzz” vs “thud” in vibrators would be really helpful!

  2. Hi,

As the owner of Leafvibes.com, we worked very hard on all Leaf vibes to ensure all had as much Thud as possible. This was so hard. We did max out every opportunity to ensure that. we understood the importance of the Thud.
By the way, Thud is a deep pulsating feeling. Buzz is a high pitched, high frequency vibe.

    Sincerely,
